Dessert: Frozen Cherry Protein Slushie
CherrySlushie-Indian As Apple Pie

WHO SAYS HEALTHY EATS HAVE TO BE BORING?

When in doubt, I reach for two simple ingredients: Greek yogurt and frozen cherries. Throw them into a blender or food processor, start and stop until just blended (I like keeping chunks of cherries in there). And, serve! It's one of the most delicious treats, and no, you don't need any other sweetener - the cherries are perfect. If you avoid dairy, try a plant-based yogurt instead.

Frozen cherries are everywhere in grocery stores these days - Costco sells large bags, which are incredibly sweet (my favorite), as does Trader Joe's. So many of you asked how I've given up processed sugar for what is now over two years and it's by doing one thing. I don't resist dessert, I replace it with natural sweetness from fruit like frozen cherries, mango, or even dates.

Why Fruit?

While fruit does have sugar in it and you don't want to overdo it, it also has fiber and other nutrients, which help your body regulate the absorption of sugar into your bloodstream. If a bit of fruit keeps me away from processed sugar, I'm good with that.

And, it does! One cup of Greek yogurt has about 80 calories and 13 grams of protein, so this dessert is going to keep you full and satisfied. And, most likely, the folks around you will ask for a bite! Enjoy!
