For me, the first step in making granola at home was mustering the courage to make granola at home. It’s a product I just assumed I needed to buy because it’s too complicated to make. It’s the exact opposite. Trust me. It’s so simple to make at home. And, by making it, I know exactly what’s in my granola. No extra sugars or unhealthy ingredients. The key to success, though, is trusting the process. This must sit and rest for the amount of time I’ve stated below – otherwise it will get soggy. Remember, I’m all about making mistakes, so you don’t have to waste time making them yourself. Our chai masala adds the touch of flavor and hint of spiciness that is at once unexpected and addictive.
This is a delicious holiday surprise for the whole family and may just be the perfect homemade hostess gift. Or, maybe even a jar of our chai masala with the recipe below?

Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 20 minutes
Total: 25 minutes + 4-6 hours cool down
Makes: ~6.5 cups
While other recipes call for a shorter cool time, the longer you allow the granola to cool, the better it will crisp up. This final step results in granola that is chunky, but not sticky, because as the oven cools, it pulls the moisture out of the granola. Either leave the granola chunky or break it apart slightly with your hands, depending on your preference. Store in an airtight container for up to one month.
